Dive Banderas Bay.
While Banderas Bay may not be known as a dive destination,
it should be! It is increasing its renown as a great place to
dive. Puerto Vallarta is one of the best training sites because
of its diversity. There are good sites for beginning divers to
feel comfortable, but there are also sites that take you close
to the edge, if you're looking for that type of experience.
Banderas Bay ~ Bahia de Banderas, which means Bay of Flags
~ is the largest natural bay in Mexico, the second largest in
North America ~ surpassed only by Canada's Hudson Bay, and is
the third largest in the world.
Banderas Bay measures over 25 miles across, with almost 50
miles of coastline and is considered one of the deepest bays
in the world - with depths of up to 2 miles (or 10,000 feet).
Because it faces west and is framed by the Sierra Madre Mountain
range, the waters of Bahia de Banderas are protected from the
inclement weather of the open seas. Most of the coastline is
coral sand beachfront dotted with intimate coves and cliffs.
With its deep, calm waters, Banderas Bay offers some of the
best scuba diving in the world. Humpback whales, dolphins, sea
turtles and giant manta rays are just a few of the bay's inhabitants.
From the moment you arrive in Puerto Vallarta, you will feel
like an invited guest and not just a tourist. Puerto Vallarta
is an honest-to-goodness authentic Mexican town, as well as a
world-class resort, so visitors can enjoy a wider range of experiences
than typical vacation destinations offer.
With 345 days of sunshine per year, the sub-tropical climate
is similar to the weather in Hawaii because it is located on
the same latitude as the Hawaiian Islands, however the peso will
allow you to do so much more. The scenery is simply gorgeous;
there are more than 1,000 restaurants and every imaginable activity
in which to participate.

Dive Safari's - which is Banderas Scuba Republic's way of
saying, shore diving. We are the only company who offer the option
of diving without long boat trips to the dive site at the area
of Mismaloya or Garza Blanca at the south part of the bay. Excellent
for beginning divers because of the nice flat sandy bottom which
allows easy walk-in entry from the beach into a nice shallow
area. Enjoy schools of tropical fishes of the area like parrot
fish, damselfish, moray eels and puffers. Dive Safari's include
equipment and guide.
NIGHT DIVING is an experience like nothing else! At the area
of Mismaloya (a south point of the bay) amazing shore diving
at night gives you a fantastic journey. You'll discover a new
sensation looking at the underwater nightlife. You'll find creatures
like lobsters, shrimp, moray eels, and sleeping parrot fishes
in the many holes and crevices. And if you turn off your lights,
you will experience the bioluminescence like stars. Bioluminescence
is light produced by a chemical reaction within an organism.
You will see all those colors that you miss during the daytime.
And once you surface you will never forget the beautiful
view of all those stars above you!
Los Arcos national underwater park, also known as "The
Arches," is a group of granite rock formations with caves
that have been sculpted by the force of the ocean over millions
of years. Beneath the surface of the water, fantastic natural
formations are waiting to be explored. Scuba diving at Los Arcos
can be equal to dipping into a large aquarium... filled with
friendly, tropical fish. From the main arch, where depths range
from 30 to 60 feet, a shelf takes you to the edge of a canyon
known as The Devil's Drop. Dropping an awesome 1800 feet, this
wall marks the beginning of the continental platform.
Majahuitas - Experience the feeling of a land that time forgot!
Accessed only by boat, the relaxed feeling of "getting away
from it all" will be a genuine experience. Majahuitas (MA-HA-WEE-TAS)
is a protected cove just 15 minutes south of Puerto Vallarta.
Considered to be the most beautiful beach in Puerto Vallarta,
Majahuita Beach offers beautiful clear water for both snorklers
and scuba divers. Majahuita Beach is a favorite due to its shallow
depths and abundance of aquatic life. With a gradual slope close
to the shore and populated by schools of friendly tropical fish.
Majahuitas is a popular and easy dive with something for everyone.
Dive depths go down to approximately 120 feet. As a dive site,
it's known for the diversity of fish, its stunning sub aquatic
panoramas, and the mystical sensation of swimming amidst extraordinary
sea life. In the winter months, humpback whales migrate to local
waters, and divers remark on the peaceful feeling they are left
with after listening to their tonal songs underwater.
